Going to QuiltCon!

Are you going to QuiltCon?  I am!  The Modern Quilt Guild is running a link party, encouraging folks to share headshots so we can kind of recognize each other.  Smart.

QuiltCon Snapshot

This is just a screen capture from a video I shot for Curves Class last week.  So... that's me, like now.  I'll tell you more about the quilt in the background later.   If you're going to QuiltCon and want to participate, you can find the MQG's blog post here.  It's fun to "see" who's going!

We're also to share 5 things people might not know about ourselves:

no. 1  I love philosophy.  Also, diagramming sentences.  But... given the general backlash against diagramming, I'm nervous to introduce this delightful exercise in our homeschool.

no. 2  I studied ballet quite seriously throughout my childhood with the intent of going professional.  I still dance now for exercise.  Love it!

no. 3  I really want to have another baby.  My husband is 85% "yes".  You can bet that as soon as he is 100% (I'm thinking it's inevitable) I will sit down with a pencil and notepad and start planning a "sewing for baby" class.  It will be epic.

no. 4  Don't lean over the sewing machine while your child is winding a bobbin.  Bad things can happen.   Guess how I know?

how not to wind a bobbin...

Fortunately, that hair is still attached to my head.  But, wow, did it wind a tight coil!

no. 5  This spring I am going backpacking with my husband for the first time.  Like no bathrooms, no running water... backpacking for 2 nights.  I am a teeny bit excited now, but when the big day comes I know I'm going to be kicking myself for agreeing.

pratice, practice

This morning I have been practicing Oh, Fransson's Dogwood Quilting Pattern with the intent of giving it a go on my Vintage Tangerine quilt.  I am not at all confident about my abilities here, but Aria saw my practice bit and exclaimed joyfully, "Mommy, it's BEEEEAutiful!" So, that helped.  She is now making that practice bit into a purse (hence the bobbin winding).

Love that girl!
