Is it autumn yet?

Well, no, not by far in the south; but still, we like to pretend.  I pointed out a pile of newly fallen leaves on my walk with my mother this morning and remarked on the "cool" morning air.  On my drive home, I saw a man spreading straw on a front lawn while a turkey strutted about.  Instantly thought... fall festival!?!

Alas, just a road worker spreading straw to protect lawns from large equipment, and a random wild turkey encounter.  But still...

a new work

This weekend I intend to take a break from writing Angled class to get a good, healthy start on a new quilt.  In the past few days I fully accepted into my consciousness that I have to start and finish 2 quilts by the end of this month, one twin-sized and one full-sized.  These are quilts for my niece and nephew that I've promised to send by their early October birthdays.   Could be time to get started?

pressed scraps

My nephew requested an orange and black quilt. With a healthy dose of gray and brown, here's hoping this project will read more "autumn" than Halloween.   I've pressed my scraps and pulled some yardage.  Crossing fingers this weekend takes me far!
