thank-you for Auction for Eleni!
It has been two very long weeks (feels more like two months) since Eleni was born. What should have been a peaceful, sweet time has been fraught with worry, stress and heartbreak. But it has also been a time enveloped by such an outpouring of love, prayer and encouragement both online and in our local community. And we are thankful,
so thankful, for you.
We are also terribly thankful for the Auction for Eleni effort, even if it is a little awkward to talk about money-related things here. The auction begins tomorrow, Saturday the 14th and ends on Sunday the 15th. Your generosity in donating auction items amazes me - so many special fabrics, gorgeous fabric stacks, lovingly made quilts and handmade items. I want to show off some of the amazing items up for grabs in this space to be sure they get the attention they deserve. Of course, this is just a sampling! I couldn't include all the wonderful donations in this post.
There are a host of beautiful fabric bundles, donated by quilt shops and individuals:
You'll find handmade items:
Quilts of all sizes (mini's too!):
And some rare, hard-to-find fabrics being de-stashed in such a kind way:
In addition to tangible items, there are gift certificates to Sew Modern and Jones & Vandermeer, a listing for a custom single quilt and for a long arm quilting job.
The auction is occurring on Instagram this weekend, and you do need an Instagram account to bid, as far as I understand. Though if you have a good friend already on Instagram, maybe he or she could bid on your behalf. Most, if not all, listings show a starting bid and shipping info.
We are told that Eleni will likely be in the NICU for another two weeks, at least. The doctors can't tell us much of anything for certain, least of all the big, important things we worry about most. When we're at our best, we take it one day at a time and leave the future to itself. Grace, strength and hope for the day at hand
xo,
Rachel
