done good {Wish Circle}

do. Good Stitches is a modern online community that quilts for good.  Over the years the bee has grown and grown, so that these days I find myself struggling to keep current with all the beautiful work being done.  I'm taking up the habit of cheering for them from here, in the way of finished object posts.  About once a month, I'll share some "done Good".  Today, Wish Circle takes the spotlight!

In November, Caitlin of Salty Oat served as lead quilter for the Wish circle.  Quilter's take turns setting a vision for the monthly bee quilt, usually defining the block style, colors and block size.  Caitlin decided to make Cloud 9's Fieldcrossing quilt, based on the free downloadable pattern.  Working from a rosy Purl Soho palette, Caitlin requested various shades of pink, yellow, rust and mustard.

Fieldcrossing Quilt Blocks

Wish host, Erika Jackman, posted this set of finished Fieldcrossing blocks to their Wish Flickr group.  Such beautiful, precise work.  In fact, Caitlin said, "Everyone did an excellent job of making blocks within the color palette, using prints and solids from their stashes."

Now I'm always a fan of on point squares, but it's the way these blocks are sashed and set that really makes the quilt...

I mean - wow!  Don't you agree?

I love Caitlin's creative straight-line quilting.  The outer diagonal lines emphasize the block formation nicely.  Plus, in between blocks she created cute crossing shapes.  Such nice details!

And for the back she used a much-prized Heather Ross mermaid print, plus Heather Ross Briar Rose binding.  I especially love how the warm brown, multicolored binding frames this pretty quilt.

Thank-you, Caitlin, for donating your special fabrics and wonderful design sense to Wish circle!  Wish makes charity quilts for an organization called Project Linus, which delivers quilts to seriously ill children to soften their hospital experience.

Well done!  Congratulations to Wish host Erika Jackman and the entire Wish circle, Flickr names:  ErikaJackman, stephjacobson, saltyoat, lynnmariewood, Daisy Spirits, Momma Thomps, Kelleigh z, Blue Bird Sews, renecreates and magpieknits.
