Stitched in Color

View Original

a bundle of Denyse Schmidt treasures

This weekend I finished my last pattern for Stitched Holiday class, the Zigzags in the Round Tree Skirt.  Looking back at that project, I'm struck by the difference between my original fabric pull (left) and my fabric do-over (right).

On the second try, I pulled a lot more fabrics and more lighter fabrics than is my habit.  Interestingly, most of these picks are by Denyse Schmidt from various collections, especially Flea Market Fancy, Chicopee and Katie Jump Rope.

I do keep a stash of quilting cottons on hand.  It's not grown much in the past 5 years.  I guess that's because I moderate my purchases, but also because I use it.  I love to combine fabrics to create unique mash ups.

One of my most loyal sponsors is Lark Cottons.  I've just created a custom bundle for her shop that features some of my favorite Denyse Schmidt prints!  Luckily, Lark has lots of DS classics, ones I've used time and time again in projects over the years.  These are colors I seem to gravitate toward.  Take a look at some of my projects that include fabrics from the bundle:

When the fabrics I had chosen for the bundle arrived from Lark Cottons, I had so much fun photographing them.  I pulled out Chicopee Churn Dash, one of my favorite throw quilts, which happens to use several of the prints from the bundle.  Outside the world is so colorful and the weather is absolutely perfect.  What a day to be alive!  I think Willow Kitty agrees.

You can purchase this 10-piece fat quarter bundle while supplies last at Lark Cottons.  Enjoy 25% off Denyse Schmidt fabrics (including the bundle) now through Friday with code DS1711.  Enter the code on the shopping cart page before starting check out!

And since I've already had my fun with these fabrics (many a time!), I'm passing this bundle on to one lucky reader, shipping courtesy of Lark Cottons to anyone in the United States.  Please add your comment here for your chance to win.

Good luck!
