Plus + Cross blocks

I have a lot of pink scraps!  Lucky me, because Ara Jane asked for pink/brown/cream bee blocks this month.  It feels so good to be sewing from scraps again.

I think my scraps missed me...

It's been a few months since we've been sewing in the Love circle.  We took a break to focus on finishing quilts.  With a few more finishes behind us (like this fabulous liberated start quilt), we're ready to start sewing collaborative monthly quilts again.  As a part of do. Good Stitches, Love circle makes quilts to be donated to children through Wrap Them in Love.  We've been doing this since 2010, and I'm proud of it!

Ara Jane asked for plus and cross blocks in any shade of pink, brown or white.  These easy little things are made with a slice and insert technique.  It's hard to go wrong with slice and insert.  Since I've been Penny Sampler-ing and Dresden-ing and paper piecing Facing East, this relaxing assignment really hit the spot.

Here is my contribution of playful blocks.  We're sending in blocks measuring 2.5", 4.5", 6.5", 8.5" and 12.5" because those "magic numbers" will all fit together without much fuss.  Fun!

Want to know more about our charity quilting bee?  I've created a new information page and registration form for do. Good Stitches here.  If you'd like to join us, please give it a whirl!

Going forward many circles are staying connected using Instagram group direct messaging, since many of us are using Instagram nowadays on a regular basis.  At the same time, we're still using Flickr to archive our photos and bee block instructions.  Maybe someday we'll have a separate website just for do. Good Stitches, so we can avoid the drawbacks of changing social media trends.  If you have any advice or suggestions, I'm always happy to hear them.  Keeping the bee healthy to facilitate community charity quilting is a cause dear to my heart.
