sewing for Rora

How has it been 4.5 months and the only thing I've sewn for Rora is her blanket?  It may be because she has everyday handmades passed down from Eleni - those burp cloths, babygowns, a winter hat, etc.  But still.

Fortunately Easter is coming and with it the perfect reason to make baby a special dress.  Time to dust off that Geranium Dress pattern.  Since Sleeping Porch scraps are at hand, I've selected the green moth fabric for her dress and the pale violets for a new sunbonnet.

This week I could barely squeeze the 0-3 month size sunbonnet on her growing little head.  And do you know what a growing head means?  A healthy brain!  (Sorry, I can't help it.  I'm so grateful.)  But seriously, a sunbonnet is a must for babywearing walks.  Might as well make that too.

I started by cutting out all pattern pieces for the dress and bonnet.  I'm using Purl Soho's free sunbonnet pattern.  Since Rora is now 4.5 months, I'm afraid the 3-6 month size won't last her through the summer.  I've opted for 6-12 months.   Fingers crossed.

Then in just one nap, it was done!  Sheesh, a person gets used to quilts and forgets that most projects aren't nearly so epic.

So this size creates a bit of a tunnel-effect for miss Rora, but I think we can make it work.  Certainly will provide much sun protection.  Yippee!  I am so looking forward to getting outside more with her this spring.
