Drummer Boy Dresdens: Week 8

Hello peeps! It’s Monday and I’m writing to the pleasant hum of my longarm quilting machine working downstairs. Lovely sound! I hope your week is also off to a promising start.

Hey, are you making a Drummer Boy Dresden quilt? This week is the last week that your #DrummerBoyDresdens Instagram shares might win you some fabricy goodness. Go sew, share, sew! And don’t forget to follow our weekly sponsor to make sure you’re eligible for the prize.

This week the prize is a $35 gift certificate to Winter Creek Cloth!

This post is part of the Drummer Boy Dresdens Sew-Along! See all posts.

Week 8 Goal

34 Dresden Blocks

By now you’ve got this appliqué thing down. We’re finishing all 100 blocks this week, for a throw-sized quilt. If you’re using my Drummer Boy Dresdens pattern to make a larger quilt, you get extra gold stars if you still manage to finish with the sew-along. I’m impressed already!

If you do finish yours later, don’t forget to share your quilt with #drummerboydresdens. I’ll still be following the hashtag and would love to see your creation!

Can you guess what I did just as soon as my blocks were finished?

I trimmed them, haha! It’s easy to forget that step. Double check that all your blocks are trimmed flush with the background fabric from the wrong side. It’ll be so much easier to join the blocks if they’re nice and tidy!

Ok, now here’s what I did when my blocks were really done…

Right now my sewing table is in my bedroom. It has gorgeous light and allows me to use my bed as a sort of design wall. I could get used to this!

100 Drummer Boy Dresden blocks = delicious.

Let the joining begin!
