Plant Peeps in process

Hi there! I have some super fun fabrics to show you. This is Plant Peeps, an organic cotton/linen blend collection from Cloud 9. I came across it at Fenceline Fabrics and couldn’t pass it up.

Aren’t these going to make something adorable for 3-year-old Elora to wear? A cotton/linen blend is a nice, hard-wearing fabric for garments. It’s cool to wear and has a nicer drape than quilting cotton.

It’s been awhile since I made Elora a Maddie Jumper. She gets tons of use out of these, since she can wear them with short or long sleeves and with or without leggings. Today I’m going back to that pattern (Maddie Jumper pattern by Violette Threads), this time in size 4.

For the first time, I’m trying a contrast pocket. This plaid is just too perfect with those tulips. I had a scrap the perfect size.

I’m using Flower Friends for one jumper and Nightbloom for the other. I can’t decide which one I like best! Hopefully these earthy colors will be practical for playtime. Elora plays outdoors every day and tends to get pretty dirty. Have I mentioned there is sand everywhere in The Netherlands? By the end of the summer, the sandbox might have migrated into our house, ha!

I’ve finished the cutting and pocket prep. These will be done in no time! I’ll be sure to show you how they turn out.

But, first I must choose buttons. Thanks, mom, for the button collection! It’s always a good feeling to put to use something that’s been waiting for its moment to shine. As the buttons run between my fingers, I often wonder about their previous lives. Were they rescued from a worn-out garment? Purchased for a project that never came to be? Have they been lingering in button purgatory for longer than I’ve been alive? Buttons would love to tell stories.

Hmm, I’ve narrowed it down to two choices per jumper. Which would you choose?
