Still Point, a wondrous star ensemble

I’m feeling pretty wonderful, because I’ve been sewing again with - - -

Scraps!

This time, my color palette is soft and simple: cream and yellow.

Have you noticed a color theme with my Pas de Deux patchwork ensembles? Each one is composed of two main colors. Think of the colors as two dancers, thus the name of the quilt is Pas de Deux, which means a dance of two. This two-color approach simplifies the fabric choices and makes the sampler more scrap-friendly. Plus, when the patchwork comes together in the final quilt, the color couplings will allow the eye to comfortably follow the patchwork patterns of each unique group.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Star of wonder, star of light, star of royal beauty bright. I’m really feeling that December magic as I cut my pieces.

This group is called Still Point, because the blocks originate from a quilt pattern by the same name, which I released in 2016. Each fancy block contains two y-seams. I break down the sewing process into tiny little baby steps with lots of pictures. So join us in 2022 to learn something new! You only have to make 6 Still Point blocks for Pas de Deux, and you’ll feel like a true master! It’s our only y-seam group in the sampler, but I think you’ll agree it’s worth it when you see the finished group.

Ta da! Just tease out those patterns! I love how these blocks interact in surprising and intricate ways. I’m seeing stars!

And if you like that, you’ll love this - - -

That’s the throw-sized Still Point quilt. It’s one of my personal favorites. But, don’t buy this pattern now, because you’ll get it free with your Pas de Deux subscription. The Pas de Deux 2022 block of the month program will actually include FOUR extra, stand-along quilt patterns, each related to the sampler itself. Still Point is the only one that is an existing patterns. The other three will be brand new!

Ok, it’s almost time to reveal the full Pas de Deux! Stay tuned and keep sewing, friends.
