get Scrappy in 2023 with the Circus Cabin sew-along
What’s that? You still have fabric scraps? They do have a mind-boggling way of multiplying, and aren’t we glad! Scrap quilts are such fun to sew.
Well friends, I have good news. Let’s kick off the new year together by busting some scraps in a fantastically easy manner, if I do say so myself.
Remember this? It’s my Circus Log Cabin quilt. I am totally jazzed to sew another!
I’ve received a load of pattern requests, so I’m going to oblige with a complete pattern release next week. The pattern will have all the details you need to sew this 64” square quilt in a convenient PDF format. And if you have few scraps, you can go for the 36” baby quilt version - - - or, maybe it’s better to go fabric shopping? Yeah, probably that. ;)
As part of my Color Mentor series, the Circus Cabin pattern offers clear patchwork how-to’s served with a generous side of color and fabric-placement advice. When I write these patterns, I aim to reverse-engineer my thought process in creating the original quilt. How did I plan colors and select fabrics? What guided my process and how can I help you on a similar journey, interpreted with your own fabrics and style?
The Circus Cabin pattern introduces a fresh Color Mentor topic - seasonal palettes for color inspiration. My original quilt was inspired by summer’s energetic palette. Will my next Circus Cabin be inspired by fall, winter or spring? I haven’t yet decided, but I did enjoy making sample palettes of each for the pattern!
Together with with some of my fabric shop sponsors, we’re preparing season-specific bundles ideal for sewing a Circus Cabin quilt. A ready-made bundle is a great way to augment your scrap collection, especially if you are short on solid fabric scraps. I’m excited to share all the details and kick-off giveaways later this month.
I hope you’ll be sewing along with us in January! The pattern will release December 9th so that you have plenty of time to gather fabrics and make space on your sewing table. Sign up now for special sew-along emails so you won’t miss a thing!
If you can’t wait to start, begin honing in on a season that inspires you most. Which one makes you most happy? Which one delights your senses? You can even collect images that capture the colors of the season from your perspective. Feeling uncertain? Have no fear; that’s what the pattern is for! Still, it never hurts to begin day-dreaming. You never know what delicious inspiration may strike.
