Fabric shops have a personality, don’t you think? When I think of Quilt Sandwich, I think of fun, colorful prints that often become my jumping off point for a new project. No surprise then that several of my recent acquisitions from Quilt Sandwich are showing up in my current quilt!

Let’s start with that colorful floral from Rifle Paper Fabric Co. and work clockwise around the pile:

Mystery at Moonstone Manor Moonstone Botanical by Tara Reed

This batch of fabrics from Quilt Sandwich is something I picked up while I was in the States last summer. They have been patiently waiting for my attention, and the time has come at last.

The cool-toned purple floral print called Moonstone Botanical is a great find! I usually order a 1/2 yard of fabric, but with this one I went for a full yard. Finally a cool purple that delights I love the combination with blue and the tiny feathers worked into the design. This one will show up in many projects, as will those peach prints at right. The brown Paintbrush print also had to come home with me for its delicious autumnal vibe.

Still, the star of the show in my eyes is that Garden Party print from Rifle Paper Co. I adore the burgundy background color and that the scale is small enough to really shine in patchwork. This print has become my anchor for my current Honeycomb Stars wall quilt!

Each one of these prints packs a punch of personality. That’s what I have come to expect from Quilt Sandwich! Each one could become a jumping off point for a quilt. In fact, let’s try and see - - -

Here are two different palette stacks. Fun, fun! In each I have combined showy Quilt Sandwich fabrics with helpful fabrics from my stash. That’s how I often start a quilt. I use a colorful inspiration print to anchor the palette and then pull supporting prints from my stash for variety of color tones and style.
