cheers to Your Positivities
We have just about reached the halfway point in the original, 12-month Positivities sew-along. It has been a real pleasure to watch your quilts develop via the Instagram hashtag #PositivitiesQuilt. I love your unique constellations of positive patchwork! For those not following along, here are some highlights from our sew-along community.
Night Sky
@weft_side_story
I adore how these ice cream rainbow hues contrast with the deep black starry sky background. Especially the white fans delight my eyes. What a genius choice for a background fabric! It’s non-directional and small-scale, so that it can be used just like a solid.
Autumn Jewels
@leukgemaakt
Autumn is my favorite season aesthetically, and this version of Positivities quilt is glowing with cozy autumn vibes. The red brick background sets a bold, warm tone, which works surprisingly well with her cheerful fabrics. I really enjoy when folks explore unexpected colors for a background!
Blueberry picnic
@melliculley
I love this bright and beautiful collection of Positivities blocks in fresh summery shades on a background of luscious blueberries. When I think about it, I can see that Melli is generally following the color scheme demonstrated in the Positivities quilt pattern. But in my opinion, every quilt made with different fabrics is unique. Her choices have a playful pop that I imagine reflects her personality!
Sweet Rose
@anieta_barendrecht
Here’s something totally different! Anieta’s quilt makes a sweet impression thanks to a limited color scheme in powdery shades. I appreciate how the grays so softly punctuate the design. The colors feel gentle and harmonious.
Groovy Julep
@murielvanderploeg
There is something about Muriel’s use of color and fabric that constantly surprises me. Is it the same for you? She’s generous with contrast, confident with neon colors and throws out unusual color combinations that create a vaguely psychedelic vibe. I totally dig it!
Patchwork Play
@freckledfoxquiltery
When I came across these Positivities blocks, I did a double take. What have we here? Freckled Fox opted to repurpose some stray wonky star blocks for the Sunbeam elements of our quilt. The fusion of stars and curves is perfectly delightful. I always love to see people tweaking my patterns to suit their own whims. Three cheers!
Are you feeling a wee bit left out? No need! You can jump right in with the second round of Positivities Club, which began in April. New members will receive already-published materials right away and then the next club delivery come June.
It’s shaping up to be a very Positive year indeed!
