super awesome Manipulative Kona Color Card!
Ok folks, I'm excited about this!
What do you need to work with color, experiment freely, try, learn and grow? You need color at your finger tips. All the colors, please! Preferably in fabric form.
Enter my creation for Color Intensive - the manipulative Kona Color Card! It's all the colors of the rainbow in peel and stick rearrangeable form, thanks to the magic of Velcro. Rejoice!
Zero in on the perfect colors for your project. Test out different shades, add and subtract neutrals, experiment with value, try anything!
Working with pure color fabric swatches that can come away from rainbow order on the card, to be viewed on an uncluttered neutral workspace, makes such a difference. Now you can see those colors for what they really are.
And then the fabric play begins! With confidence.
Or...
Seize a favorite print and discover which colors are speaking to you. Lay swatches right on the fabric to sort out the truth. Then consider your picks in another context too.
And maybe rule some out as you refine your vision. Buttercup or Citrus? Decisions, decisions...
Students of my Color Intensive online workshop may order a free Kona swatch card (just cover the cost of shipping) to make a super awesome manipulative Kona Color Card of your own. Robert Kaufman (makers of Kona) generously donated 2012 cards, each with 243 colors, for our use! On registration day you can buy your card, if you want one, in my pattern shop while you're buying your class. Then at the the private class blog you'll find directions already posted for how to transform a regular swatch card into a manipulative, super-usable tool!
Shipping will be $4 via First Class in the United States, $22 for Priority Mail to Canada and $24 for other international Priority Mail destinations. Remember, purchasing this card is optional. If you already have a color card, you could definitely convert it to a manipulative card and be all the better for it!
During class, some assignments will make use of this tool. Yes, you can totally do the class without it, but this is going to enrich your learning for sure! We'll also use Kona colors to speak a "language" of particular color that is independent of your computer screen. Since computer screens vary wildly in color display, I'm excited to have a color language that's physical, specific and - best of all - manipulative.
Registration's on Monday!
