Candy Box, a Postage Stamp Stars quilt

Today is finished quilt day!

And look at these dapper men who kindly helped me hold the quilt. I don’t know what they’re doing outside without their clothes though, on such a very cold and windy day.

Well, at any rate, the quilt is finished and looking very cheery despite the weather! Navy and candy pink is a new combo for me. It feels very spring, don’t you think? I think this would be a nice after-Christmas quilt. Something to freshen up the sofa and go along with February hues. All the scrappy colors bring to mind spring bulbs. I’m already watching eagerly for signs of life in my garden!

I opted for Baptist Fan quilting in soft pink thread. It seems like you can’t go wrong with Baptist Fan curves on just about any quilt.

Remember I used that Cosmos backing fabric? The pink stitches make a pretty pattern on the silky soft black. Mmm, the texture is really something.

Do you know what I enjoyed most about making this quilt? That would be the combination of scrap-sewing and a punchy palette. With the Speckled fabrics I sourced from Fenceline for the star points, star backgrounds and other repetive elements, the quilt has a strong personality. At the same time, I used a ton of low volume scraps, gray scraps and handfuls of other colors. Kind of feels like the best of both worlds!

The Postage Stamp Stars quilt pattern is included in the February delivery of the Pas de Deux 2022 block-of-the-month club. February club mailings have just gone out! If you don’t see yours in your inbox, double check in spam and them drop me a line so I can sort you out. Sometimes there are issues with email delivery in these situations. If you are joining the club now, you’ll get Jan and Feb all at once. It’ll be no trouble to catch up! We’re still just getting started.

Now this pretty quilt is ready and waiting of someone to take her home. Listed in my Handmades shop today!

And look, tulips! There is a generous supply in shops already - one of the many perks of living in The Netherlands. Heart.

Happy weekend, all.
