Hourglass, a tipsy triangle ensemble
Here we go again! Another day, another color combination, another concise little group of patchwork pleasure. Today I’m combining cranberry and tangerine, two near-neighbors on the color wheel that nevertheless make for a dramatic pairing.
Happy, as always, to be sewing through my scraps!
This patchwork ensemble is another addition to my Pas de Deux sampler quilt. I’ve cut squares to sew hourglass blocks, which are a cousin of the half square triangle block. They’re easy to sew, as club members will discover when this group is delivered at the end of our block-of-the-month program. I’ve also cut triangles for long strings of triangle trim. Despite appearances, these are considerable more challenging to sew as compared to the hourglass blocks.

Quilt Sandwich Fabrics
Another beautiful Rifle Paper Fabrics Co. collection is newly arrived at Quilt Sandwich Fabrics. The stunning Camont by Anna Bond is available in yardage or as a fat quarter bundle.
And, ta da! The Hourglass group is complete!
For the Hourglass group photo op, I’ve stacked the triangle trim strips together creating a fun zigzag effect. You can see how they’re really intended to be arranged in the quilt mock-up below.
Once Hourglass was completed and photographed, I practically ran into my sewing room to join its floating rows to those from the Orange Peel group. Assembly is so satisfying! I actually have only two more groups to go and then I can complete the top. Can’t wait!
Speaking of people who can’t wait - - - Is the 12-month block-of-the-month pace feeling too measured for your tastes? Would you like to finish your Pas de Deux quilt top before December? Well, I have good news for you! A faster, 6-month version of Pas de Deux kicks off this April. The 6-month club will include all the same materials, just delivered twice as fast as the 12-month version. Thus, it’s also a great time for anyone new to Pas de Deux to join in!
In April, members of the faster 6-month Pas de Deux BOM will receive what was the Jan/Feb materials. In May you’ll receive what was the March/April materials, etc. By June both groups will be neck and neck. In July the 6-month group will pull ahead. They’ll receive the final installment of Pas de Deux in September; whereas, the classic 12 month club receives their last delivery in December.
Yes, you can switch! If you’d prefer a faster pace, I’m happy to switch your subscription from the classic club to the faster club when the time comes. In a few months there will be an option to register for the switch via your Pas de Deux club email. So, hold tight for now! I won’t forget. Pinky promise.
xoxo,
Rachel
