a Beginner's Quilt-Along?
Would you like to make this quilt? It's a simple, vintage-inspired design with an easy-peasy 4-patch style that is sooooo beginner-friendly. Yes, this really could be your first quilt!
I have been thinking how well-received my Colorbrick Quilt-Along was, way back when, and how people continue to make Colorbricks. Every once in a while I get an email that so-and-so has finished their first quilt - and it's Colorbrick! The original Colorbrick was my first quilt and that was first quilt-along... 3 years ago! Time for another beginner's quilt-along?
I'd walk you through the process bit by bit, from choosing fabrics, to detailed cutting, piecing tips and all the scary quilt-finishing steps (of course - basting!).
For quilting, I'd teach an easy straight-line quilting finish for beginners, as well as suggest the dogwood quilting shown here for those that are eager to tackle free motion quilting. So even if you're not a new quilter, you might want to join us for the FMQ finish! We'll refer to Elizabeth Hartman's fabulous tutorial, and I'll share my thoughts on how I approached things a little differently. It's all about getting your feet with with FMQ and finding out what works for you!
I so enjoyed making this quilt the first time, that I'm game to make another. Anyone with me? If you are than I'll be back this week with a quilt-along schedule. I'd like to see us start sewing by the end of this month so that we can finish our quilts in time for holiday gifting!
