at Market

maternity fashion - Spring 2011

This weekend I'm at market. No, not quilt market (I wish!!!) at fashion market in Atlanta, GA for spring/summer 2011. Yep, this is the biannual shopping trip for my maternity boutique... so plenty of belly bumps going around here.

Fashion Market - Atlanta, GA

If you've ever wondered what it's like to be a buyer, I'll tell you. You look at racks and racks of clothing all in one day. Hopefully, it does not end up as one big blur. You see oodles of new, fashion-forward styles and either boldly or tentatively buy them, hoping that your customers will be ready for the new look when the fashions arrive in store 6 months later. And sometimes you're right on and sometimes you're dead wrong. And, other times you're just ahead of the curve and they happily buy the look next year (oops!).

So what are the new looks for Spring 2011? More 80's, 80's, 80's. Leggings and jeggings, over-sized prints, bright cobalt blue, tunics, florals galore and did I say leggings? Really, you can't get away from the leggings!

Pretty Little Things

So, on more familiar territory, here are a few pretty little things to leave you with: some tea towels available in Anna Maria Horner's shop and a Folksy Flannel Bundle stack, which is destined to be become bibs, burp cloths, softies or such for the babies in my life. Ah... fabric - so much better than leggings.
