me + her
Saturday was a happy mail day - my Metro Living Circles arrived in brown. 1. They are gorgeous. 2. I can finally start piecing my Sixth Time's the Charm crib quilt!
In the midst of the mess, good things happened today.
For one, I spent some time with Aria helping her practice at the sewing machine. And, she opened her DIY vintage bunting from The Modern Marigold, which was one of her Christmas presents. It really is an ideal first sewing machine project! She was so proud to finish it all in one sitting.
This little girl is growing up so fast. In fact, she's starting to find ways to push back at my mommy influence. Little pieces of making her own way in the world. I just adore that she still absolutely wants to be just like me when it comes to creating. Nothing pleases her more than working yarn alongside me on the couch or working on her own sewing project while I piece a quilt. Gosh, she'll talk my ear off about how special it is! May it always be so!
I've been meaning to show you this embroidery picture - her first. Please indulge me! This was her first embroidery picture and while she started it sometime early fall (I think), I was proud of her for continuing to work at it from time to time and, of course, for finishing it! My favorite part is the "A" she added to the teapot. And, yes, that is a big hole in the picture. Learning experience - don't try to embroider on linen with a blunt needle.
The very day she finished this one, she started another picture for a friend. Yep, sounds like my kind of girl!
