Bottled Rainbows: Blue Blocks
This post is part of a series Bottled Rainbows {ticker tape quilt along}. You can join in anytime. We're going at a leisurely pace and using up our scraps! Please see this page for links to all posts.
I have a double-dose of color for you today - last week's block and this week's block in one tidy package. (Courtesy of my Saturday spent sewing - yeah!) Golly I am glad to have made it over to the cool side!
So refreshing!
I have to admit, I've been pining for the blue blocks since I saw Angela's blue Bottled Rainbows. But I had this thing about working through the color grid in an order defined by colors that touch. Doesn't that sound crazy? I guess I just like to see the colors as they relate to each other (oh, really, you know it's pure crazy).
This is the "Ocean" block, which belongs in the upper right corner of the Bottled Rainbow Color grid. It's made here in Kona pacific, which is a drop-dead gorgeous blue in my humble opinion. I was short of fabrics or scraps for this block, so I did buy a bit of one Castle Peeps print and the Eliza stripe to get the job done.
And here is the "Marine" block. She's totally my favorite of the two!
I think it's the good mixture of big and little-ish scraps. Hello, hippo!
color happiness.
Now there are just 7 blocks left, so I am more than halfway done. Looking forward to making my Cerise block next so that I can connect another row! Here's what I've done so far:
What about those of you who are playing along? How are the blocks coming? How many do you have left? I wonder if you've chosen a backing. I need to get on that!
Until next time, sew happy!
