Lollipop, lollipop

I've been working on my book proposal today, and by golly am I excited!  So many fun things to try, that's the good.  So much work to do, that's the other good.  Kind of good, kind of scary.  Mostly good, I think.  My littles are leaving in exactly one week for a loooooooog, two-week vacation with their grandparents.  Do you think I can bang out this book proposal before they get back?  Here's hoping!  I also really would like to see myself start cutting that summer dress, but we'll see.

Meanwhile, I'm keeping up on bee blocks, which is totally my pleasure.  No complaints here!  Last night I made Lollipop Trees for the faith circle of do. Good Stitches.  This is Des' spin on the Love Beads quilt pattern, which makes a string of beads rather than trees.  It's a great pattern for making trees, don't you think?  She wanted dots, when possible.  I incorporated green and orange Metro Circles, green Amy Butler dots, and various scraps for the trees.  The gray backgrounds are Freespirit houndstooth, Moda blue/gray crossweave (which looks like a solid gray here) and Central Park on the far right.

This morning, before I ran to work, I captured this shot of my sewing corner.  Can you see some Loulouthi down there?  Yes, I've done my cutting!  Well, I've done my cutting of the prints.  The sashing is not nearly as exciting so I procrastinated.  And I think that tonight I'll be working on Bottled Rainbows instead of sashing.  Oh well!

I'm carefully setting aside my cutting scraps for the back of the quilt.  I always love it when quilt backs are punctuated with a strip of quilt top scraps.  Somehow that never happens for me. I think partly because I'm always so quick to put the scraps away.  I like things "away."  It leaves room for my brain in the space.  No what I mean?  Anyways, this time I won't forget to use the scraps for the back.
