Pink Seeds
So pleased to meet you, miss Pink Seeds.
She's Aria's new Easter Dress, my second run with the Marissa dress pattern from Sis Boom. Happily, it's an easy sew. This time I made the size 5/6 dress (same as last year) but did not take in the waist and lengthened the skirt. It fits with room at the waist and obviously lots of length, so this one should last us some time! Hurrah.
Yes, the skirt turned out quite different than my original plan. I fell in love with that striped fabric for the waistband and decided to take Cathy's suggestion (from the comments here) to simply do a patchwork skirt band. More room to use the pink seeds that way too!
All of these prints are Peacock Lane by Violet Craft, except for the simple pink stripe which is from Lecien. Can you believe how Peacock Lane blends flawlessly with the Flea Market Fancy pink seeds? What a lucky find in my stash!
Watch Out for Liam monster!
Where were we? Just like last time, I also strayed from the pattern to bring the front waistband around to the back. It's a pet peeve of mine that waistbands complete, a preference I learned from being a maternity clothing buyer. The back's important too!
I do love how this bodice is designed though. So elegant and oh-so-very comfortable with elasticized gathers at the top front and back. It fits so well!
Freckles.
Sillies. Clearly a dress for good times.
After our photo shoot she wanted to wear it awhile inside. Today she's industriously rolling yarn into balls while watching over her very well-loved kittie. "Isn't it neat, mom, how I made a quilt for Susan and you made a quilt for me?"
Only the very neatest thing in the whole world, really. Wishing you all a very "neat" day.
