Zippy
Have you tried zipper tabs yet? You know, those little tabs of fabric that sit at the top of a zipper pouch to hide the ends? You probably have. I think I'm the very last one to finally give it a go! LOVED it.
Let's see - it hardly takes any fabric. I just grabbed some scraps from my "tiny" bin and didn't even cut them to a particular size. Also, it's completely easy. I think it makes sewing zippers more beginner-friendly? Definitely a happier, neater outcome for sure.
I used a tutorial on Make it Perfect. Only problem was that the tutorial is designed to work with two separate outer rectangles that are sewn together with a seam at the bottom to form the pouch. I wanted to use a long rectangle of reverse applique, I had made by hand a la Alabama Chanin. This was to be my last Curves Class camper gift. Since I hadn't worked the reverse applique piece into any finished object, I asked the recipient what she would prefer and she selected a zip pouch. So anyways, I had to finagle the lining as best I could to make this piece work with the tutorial, but it wasn't the tutorial's fault. I'll definitely be doing zipper tabs again.
Here, here for zipper tabs! Yes, it's the little things in life.
Hope you had a great weekend! I did receive my Alabama Chanin DIY Kit, but I'm going to have to wait on showing more until I make a little change to the lining fabric. Cross your fingers that I don't ruin anything... Have a great day!
