Craft Show {from Scrap}
I have super good news for those of you who (like me) love to check boxes... I'm totally ahead on making things for the craft show! Woo-hoo.
As of Wednesday last week I had 22 items for the show. Since then I've made 5 more with a few others in process or close to a finish. Keeping track of what I've made is already getting confusing, so I'm going to start a spreadsheet today. It'll be handy for tracking what sells later on too!
Here's a covered journal I made last week. Mostly monochromatic? Well, I tried. I started with green, but I can rarely resist adding teal to green. Always such a delish combo. Made from scrap!
The triangles are super fun, right? Yeah, but not so practical. I made enough triangles to form the entire journal cover, even the inside flaps. It took over 2 hours from cutting and piecing to finished triangle fabric. The next morning, I turned the finished triangle fabric into a journal cover in about 15 minutes. Hm... Maybe I should simplify? This was totally fun, but given how many I'd like to make (and yes, I should try to make even more than my original goal of 20) it would be really nice not to spend 2+ hours per cover. Plus, I'm definitely not pricing them high enough for 2 hours of labor. (I promise we'll talk pricing next week!)
Soo... I rooted around in my "messy" fabric drawer (where I also keep multi-colored scraps who defy classification) and pulled out all of my pieced scraps. These are mostly situations in which I changed my mind after doing some piecing. There's also pieced rainbowness trimmed from Oodalolly. If I could rescue these abandoned works by turning them into journal covers, I'd hopefully save time as well as clean out my drawer. They're begging, "Please use us!"
Always looking to please, I worked with pieced rainbow curves to create this journal cover. Working with all these tiny curved strips without much of a plan, the work took on a wave or too. That's when I decided to stop feeding the monster, add the black/white Brush Stroke print from Summersville and call it a day.
I'm thinking the finished cover exudes cool. Someone artsy is gonna love it, if I do say so myself! I'm really digging the way all that color plays with this equally artsy, but starkly black and white print.

It's a much quieter version of myself. We'll see if anyone this tasteful actually stops by my booth. Ha!
I had finished this piece of embroidery ages ago for no reason. So, it's another "scrap" of sorts hoping to find a home.
Yep, lots going on here! I have some wall art to show you later this week and then next week we'll talk pricing. Until then, let's see if I can get a bit simpler with my covered journal creations. Kind of doubt it!
