Typewriters anyone?

Yes, those!  Melody Miller's faaaaamous typewriters.  The good stuff (which happen to still be available at Fabricworm in more than one colorway.  Run!)  Ok, so I'm not actually giving them away, but I do have projects for show and tell that are all about the typewriters.



And text fabrics, cause the two go hand and hand!



One night I couldn't sleep and launched into a tirade of project-planning.  The next morning my table was full of little fabric stacks, scrap heaps and typewriters each waiting their turn to shine.  The first version, a covered journal, is Vintage Sweet.  A nice helping of text sprinkled with Alexander Henry butterflies.  Sure to make me smile!

 

Then this number, more streamlined, less fuss.  Just Summersville Alphabety in Seafoam (available at Whipstitch, Bloomerie, Moona and Marmalade Fabrics), plus Lush Running Stitch in Turquoise (at Fat Quarter Shop and Lark).  I've been working with the Lush Running Stitch in several projects, actually.  It's oh-so-versatile and a gorgeous shade of soft teal.  I'd like to get more colors!



Inside covers on the two covered journals.  I can just keep looking and looking at the Summersville Alphabetty print.  The letters are different as you continue to wonder through the alphabet - so many creative variations!



Then this iPad sleeve, Kona Everglade (definitely a go-to shade) with raw edge applique text patches for the true type-lover.  All of my typewriters were permanently fused with Steam-a-Seam.  It's a great fusible by The Warm Company that's widely available in the States.  I usually use the Lite version, which is nice and lightweight so my quilt or whatnot doesn't come out stiff.  But, for these projects I used up some scraps of the "regular" version since stiffness wouldn't be a problem.  Easy!



Here's how I left my sewing space - featuring a new sewing machine cover and zip bag made by Erica in a swap.  Now my Pfaff is sporting this colorful number instead of it's boring black cover.  Thanks so much, Erica!

I'm off to finally do some sewing. All of these projects were finished last week and I feel like this week I've been working in slow-mo (or not getting to work at all).  Tonight the kids are sleeping over at grandma's. Sewing, here I come!
