R. I. P. dear Iron
The other day I had some friends over to sew. I worked on my patchwork chair covers, and they made camera straps. Good times!
So, Erin was pressing hers and said, "Well, I can see this iron gets a lot of use". She's new to sewing. I remember that - how you realize the iron and the sewing machine are best buddies. Anyhoo, right after that I went to press my patchwork and got a puddle of water for my trouble. Yep, the iron went kaput. And, as is its habit, pressing when it's off means the steam water just comes right out.
I went through all stages of grief. Denial - let's try this again and again. Really, more water is coming out? Anger - but, I want to press this seam, darn it! Bargaining - what if I give you a time out and try again in the morning? Will you work for me then, dear iron? Depression - My interim iron sucks. Won't even press seams flat on its hottest setting. Acceptance - time to buy a new iron. At least it will be shiny. I should ask my friends!
In conclusion, I need a new iron. What do you recommend? I tried the Oliso iron at QuiltCon and found it entertaining, if nothing else. Don't really think I need the retractable feet, but the color is nice. I like a hot iron that puts out lots of steam and, ideally, has a detachable water tank so you can walk with the water tank to the sink, leaving the iron plugged in.
Any ideas?
