stitching squares
This weekend I've been keeping myself busy. Stitching, reading, raking, even weeding. But mostly stitching up those 3" cut scraps from my Waltz of the Flowers quilt into 10" postage stamp blocks.
And look how pretty they are, my dear scrappy seedlings! This is my first time sewing relatively small squares for a quilt. I'm not strip-piecing (where you sew together long strips and them cut them up as pieced patchwork strips, then join again for a postage-stamp look), so I feared this might be slow going. Not so.
Or at least, I had the time and inclination to keep going, and here we are now. I've been seriously trying not to dwell on you know what, so sewing and listening to an audio book are my current defense. And company. I like company right now quite a bit!
Anyone want to come over?
I had thought this would be a baby quilt, but we passed that mile marker about 7 blocks ago. Now I'm thinking to just keep sewing until I run out of green, and then figure out what to do about it.
My two makeshift design walls are leaning against a bookshelf and propped up with a basket of shells. It works. My sewing space is actually our entry, so bonus points that anyone who comes over practically runs into my work. Ha! I used to be shy about it, but now it's old news. Yes, I quilt. Like all the time. And it's awesome!
Happy Monday.
