messing around
Yesterday I dug into my scraps for a bit of messing around at the end of my work day. Pulled out a stack of linen triangles (naughty little things) and some of my favorite scrap fabrics. Hmmm... coasters? Yes, we need them.
Check.
TWENTY-FOUR coasters? Uh.... yeah, I got a little carried away.
At one point I thought I could keep 12 and find homes for the others. This morning I realized there is no scenario in which twelve glasses would be resting simultaneously on my humble coffee table. I mean, sure, my kids are known to swipe them to use as bookmarks (the weirdos) and there are always a few under the sofa, but twelve? Still excessive, maybe.
Making those hourglass blocks was just too good, too easy. And I wanted to use up all the linen, which I know I'll avoid for general patchworks. Today I've cut backings and battings, using up those skinny batting scraps that come off the edges of quilts. Now begins the dirty work of finishing them up. Do turning and edge stitching make anyone else nervous?
Good news is I've finished one and they're going to be DARN cute.
Back to it. See you on the other side!
