Lark Scrap Challenge Victories!

Lark Scrap Challenge! One small stack of fabrics... four unique results!  Come see what our scrap challengers made with their bundle from Lark Cottons!

The original challenge prompted each to work with the 16 fabrics included in the  Spots and Dots bundle.  They could add other fabric and trims as desired and they had a little over a week for the making.

Sometimes a deadline is just what we need!

First up, miss Martha at Weekend Doings made good on her promise to whip up a wonky star quilt!  She made wonky star blocks in a variety of sizes and floated them in Kona Snow - wintry and bright.  Turned into a nice size quilt too.  Wow!  Visit Martha for some beautiful close ups.

The scrap bundle inspired another happy quilt from Jami of Busy Bee Quilts.  Lots of you were interested in seeing these dots made up in dresdens, so here's your chance!  I think the dark navy dot was a great choice for the centers.  It really dominates anyways with its dark value and large scale.  Don't you love her wonky scrap sashing?  Wait til you see how she quilted it.  Jami used a variety of free motion quilting techniques to emphasize her design.  Visit Jamie for close ups of that quilt job!

Our next challenger made a quilted tote bag using the Mini Swoon block pattern.  Each side of Kristine Palmer's tote bag has a different swoon, one in warm colors, one in cool.  See more photos at her Flickr photostream

Have you been noticing how different these dots feel when combined with different solids?  We've seen white, khaki and now a cool gray.  I wonder, which one makes the colors dance most for you?  They all work beautifully, but they do tweak the color context, don't they?

Blue/Green Side

Our last scrap challenger is miss Daisy of Ants to Sugar.  She had promised a mini quilt, but wanted to see the fabrics in person before nailing down a design.  Daisy actually made her own paper piecing design for the star, which was inspired by this block.  She shares her struggles and how she ended up making a second scrap project with the scraps of her scraps, ha!  Visit Daisy for the full scoop.

Scrap Challenge

A great big thanks to all challengers for inspiring us with your creativity!  We certainly are a quilty bunch, aren't we?  And, of course, thanks to Lark Cottons for composing the scrap bundle and sharing it with us!  If you haven't had a chance to, you can still grab your bundle at Lark Cottons.
