Pineapple mini quilt
Another mini.
You know, I haven't really been "into" the mini quilts thing until now. But they actually make perfect gifts for fellow patchwork fanatics. And what a nice opportunity for experimenting with time-intensive or difficult blocks! I may be hooked (or it may be a phase, like my covered journal phase, drawstring pouch phase, slouchy bags, etc, etc.). Basically, we all want patchwork in our lives. The finishing phase of the moment is secondary to that experience!
Pineapple blocks are definitely time-hungry little buggers. Lucky I only needed four for this mini! After I got started and wrote that first post, it dawned on me that I could use triangle scraps for all the colored bits.
Because they are Triangle-Shaped.
Well, duh! Feel free to spell those things out to me, people, when I'm being slow.
Anyhoo, I'm always a fan of a block that uses triangles without creating new triangle scraps. A whole quilt would be a fantastic scrap-busting project.
My finished mini is just 18" square. It could work as a table topper too. Whatever floats your boat, really! Patchwork, remember? It comes first.
Oh, look how that Doe Lightning border so nicely echos the pineapple block design! It's the little things.
This mini quilt is backed in another spiky print and equipped with hanging triangles.
And off it goes!
