Lotus baby quilt
Hello again! It's back to the everyday for those of us in the States who just enjoyed a three day weekend. My family managed to getaway for a few nights camping at the lake. Yes, a very pregnant me slept in a tent and hiked to the bathroom (quite frequently) for three days. That's not exactly my cup of tea, but I did appreciate the extra time as an extended family with my parents.
I took along my Lotus quilt and finished the handquilting on the drive.
After machine quilting along the block seams, I chose to add handquilting around each flower's outer edge and inside the center circles too.
The back is soft and snugly flannel in warm yellow-orange and coral pink.
These cool melon colors were so tantalizing late spring and refreshing this summer. Now that autumn is almost here, I'm craving a whole new color scheme. In fact, we probably need another mosaic contest to celebrate the change of seasons! I'll get on that.
A special thanks to Claudia, who contacted me to purchase this quilt in advance. It was a delight to labor at the handquilting knowing that someone was already making space for the finished work in her home. And such a compliment too!
