Stitched Charleston & other news
Several things have been brewing behind the scenes this summer! Your feedback from my earlier survey provided lots of momentum and new ideas. Thanks again for your encouragement.
Stitched Charleston
Earlier this year I made plans to open my home to teach a weekend workshop. The event ended up being cancelled for a number of reasons, and since then I've been mulling over other options for connecting in person. I'm excited to announce Stitched Charleston, an intimate quilter's retreat located in charming Folly Beach near Charleston!
Who: 8 guests, myself and my assistant.
What: A long weekend with fellow patchwork enthusiasts indulging in what we love - sewing! Your weekend includes an hour of individual instruction with me on a topic of your choice. Color, improv, curves, applique, hand quilting, machine paper piecing.... these are just a few ideas for you to consider!
Where: 3 nights stay in a large vacation home near the ocean in Folly Beach, South Carolina. We'll be able to walk to the ocean and drive 30 minutes to downtown Charleston. Bring your projects; I'll bring the rest!
With: Food! Breakfast and lunch included. Dinners out on the town at your own expense. Sewing machines, irons and cutting supplies provided.
When: November 10-13, 2017 and March 2-5, 2018. Enjoy mild South Carolina weather with average highs in the 70's.
$650 fee includes lodging, food, instruction and supplies. Rate is based on double occupancy in rooms with either a queen/king bed or two twins. I'll be accepting reservations over the next 3 weeks, then finalizing plans. Please don't delay if you'd like to attend!
A Colorful Thread
Would you like to ensure you don't miss my most popular posts and finished quilts? Are you interested in new patterns and details on upcoming classes? I know that many of us don't regularly use a blog reader and have trouble keeping track of our favorite spaces. You can already subscribe to Stitched in Color by email, to receive notice of each blog post right in your inbox. This summer I am also launching a newsletter to help us stay in touch.
Once a month, newsletter subscribers will receive A Colorful Thread: a spread of news, curated blog post links and inspirational musings on color and design. The first edition is coming out at the beginning of August, so now is a great time to subscribe.
improved Patterns & Classes
Earlier this year I migrated Stitched in Color to a new, more powerful platform. I love the fresh look and improved functionality of my new website, and it has inspired me to make even more improvements.
I have plans to overhaul my pdf patterns to streamline layouts. The updated patterns will present information more efficiently, allowing total page count to be cut approximately in half. This will make it much more convenient for you to print my pdf patterns, if desired.
I've mostly finished updating my Wheel Quilt pattern. I printed out some test pages and was so, so pleased! Next week I'll be releasing my Lake Cabin quilt pattern in the fresh format. I hope you enjoy!
Along the same lines I'll be launching my new class in September on CourseCraft, a platform specifically designed for online classes. The new set up will make it easier for students to access and navigate my detailed class content. Plus, you'll be able to upload an image right to the comments of a lesson, easily sharing your work when you have a question or something to celebrate.
All of these improvements require time on my part and investments in new infrastructure, but I am excited to see this little business I've made for myself at Stitched in Color continue to grow and evolve. I love my job! I consider myself beyond fortunate to get to work at something I'm passionate about and do it on my own terms, from my home. So blessed! So grateful.
Thank you!
