Stars on my table

My work during the week often allows for remarkably little sewing on my own projects. I don’t dislike the computer work, and actually enjoy some of it - planning for upcoming projects, organizing my post calendar, writing a new class. So that’s lucky! I also enjoy the longarm quilting, truly I do, so I’m not complaining. But by the time the weekend comes I’m eager for time behind my machine!

This weekend turned into a little staycation. My husband was away for work and the children spent some time with their grandparents. Between that and Rora’s unusually long Saturday nap (3 hours!), I had more time than usual all to myself. Oh, and it was dripping all day - perfect piecing weather.

I think my Starbright Stars quilt is progressing nicely. Thank goodness for the idea to use variable background fabrics. I think without that extra interest this non-scrappy version would have felt too flat for me.

Even though I have more than half of the quilt pieced, it’ll likely be slower going from here. But I’m pleased! There are stars on my table, and while I waited for the longarm to process just now, I snuck in a few more seams.

And so it grows!

p.s. Look out for news soon about Angled class, encoring in the new year. The class teaches angled piecing for intermediate quilters or confident beginners. It includes a number of original quilt patterns, including Starbright Stars!
