Thank you all for your comments on my Indecisive post last week. I do feel much clearer now, fortunately. I made some quilty plans for the summer, which include releasing the Economy Star Parade quilt pattern and refreshing the Penny Patch free resources. This morning I started organizing fabrics for both. It feels wonderful to shift my focus back to making and sharing in these familiar ways.

Meanwhile, look what is taking shape on my design wall! Pink, pink, pink. And everything looks sweeter in heart form, yes?

I almost always fine-tune my fabric choices as I go when I sew a patchwork quilt. With Elora’s quilt I recently decided to include a few more peachy-pinks in the mix, including the two fabrics at the bottom right of the image above. In particular the little birdcage print seemed a nice compliment to Elora’s favorite Rifle Paper fabrics “flamingo” print at middle left. The birdcage print brings another print with a touch of navy so that the flamingo print will seem even more to belong.

Elora is more enamored with cool pinks; whereas, I definitely gravitate toward warm, peachy pinks. Like most colors, it works well with pink to mix both warm and cool tones when cultivating a monochromatic color scheme. For me, the mix of warm/cool pink shades has a deeper, somewhat more natural feeling than a group of fabrics restricted to cool rose pinks. Well, I like it better!
