Pinwheel Star, a simple bit of patchwork magic

Welcome back to my sewing room. Today is my last day of corona quarantine, and I’m feeling full of energy! I think it’s time for some progress on my rainbow Pas de Deux quilt.

Here’s the last progress shot, showing only those patchwork groups that I sewed prior to the release of our 2022 block-of-the-month. That seems like ages ago. Was January an extra-long month, perhaps? I think so. It seems like everyone in The Netherlands got corona in January/early February. Now maybe we can move on with life?

Well, we can at least move on with patchwork. Here comes some patchwork magic! Let’s begin this time with grass green and silver gray fabric scraps.

And, ta da! The Pinwheel Star block. This is, hands down, a simple little block to sew. I mean, you can see that it’s simple and straightforward.

Well, still, the perfectly pointy points and playful scrappy fabrics make me smile. Sometimes quick and simple is GOOD.

Today I’ve added my January blocks to the design wall and popped the Pinwheel Star up in its spot - - -

Yay! Now that is starting to look like a quilt. Happy dance!

See those blue fabrics just hanging out on the design wall? Those are my next patchwork group. Evening Stars coming later this month!

For now, I better turn my attention to a more complicated project: Lichen Duster.
