Full Spectrum Pas de Deux quilt

It’s seems I’ve captured the rainbow again. This swirl of happy, scrappy patchwork makes me smile, just like that bow of color in the sky.

The fact that this rainbow is made from fabric scraps holds a special place in my heart. Searching, sorting and trimming scraps for patchwork is at the root of my quilt-making crush. And this one is a true scrap success: so many colors, so many cool modern prints, so many little surprises to enjoy in every corner.

How was sewing the patchwork groups together? Totally fun, partial seams and all! It was like placing the last, utterly satisfying pieces in a jigsaw puzzle.

For quilting I chose a clean, diagonal straight line. With so much to visual energy already on offer, this quilt didn’t need anything complicated. A simple quilting pattern brings a hint of unity and allows the patchwork to speak for itself.

Ta da! This is my Full Spectrum rendition of Pas de Deux, our block-of-the-month sampler. What fun it’s been to sew from start to finish! You better believe I’m eager to start another.

Here’s a peak of the backing. Isn't that print just perfect with the vibe of this quilt top?

The quilt back is scrappy as well! I used a leftover, lux purple solid as well as two fabulous Anna Maria Horner prints. What serendipity! I don’t think I could have planned something better.

Are you already sewing along with Pas de Deux? Then I hope seeing this finish gives you energy and inspiration.

Want to join in? You’re in luck! A new round of Pas de Deux begins in April. Sign ups are going on now and, this week only, membership to the 2nd round of Pas de Deux is on sale for €65! Come on, your scraps are waiting!

Not sewing? Maybe you’d like to bring my rainbow home? My Full Spectrum Pas de Deux quilt has been listed today in my Handmades Shop. Thank you for supporting my art!

xoxo,

Rachel
