You know how the world shines and sparkles, after the rain? When the sunshine bounces off wet branches, dark sidewalks and washed-clean walls? I like to think this quilt top is akin to that fresh moment. Stormy rain cloud fabrics are swept away to reveal bright, open skies. Such a sharp contrast.

Have you used "value" in quilting before? This quilt pattern relies on value contrast to create the design. In this level 2 Color Mentor pattern, I review value concepts and guide you in using fabrics in five different value levels to create this quilt.

After the Rain is sewn with foundation machine paper piecing. This method easily yields sharp points for the half rectangle triangle shape. Since this is such a simple block to paper piece, no prior experience with machine paper piecing is needed. A photo tutorial demonstrates the paper piecing steps.
