I've got it BAD.

It came on so sudden.  There I was lying in bed, innocently drifting off to sleep, when suddenly seized with a powerful urge to makeover the house.  Like, big time. The thing is, as I reflected, it wasn't so much redecorating as just plain ol' decorating.  Our house, at this moment, is mostly clear spaces, clean lines, empty table tops, even a few blank walls.

What's with that?  Do I not love color?  Am I not creative?  Wait, do I live here!?!

Let me show you what I mean...

*warning, boring pictures follow*

***are you sure?***

OK....

I've got it BAD

I've got it BAD.

I've got it BAD

I've got it BAD

It hasn't always been this way, and (thank goodness) my sewing room is a pretty, colorful space.  But our living room and dining room... pretty blah.  My husband is very opinionated about interior decor and likes things sparse and simple.  His favorite color is black.  I think I've been burying my personal taste in lieu of confrontation.  Well, blame it on the spring flowers or credit my new-found creative identity, but this state will no longer do.

I actually told Brandon that it would be good for my blog (you know, my business) if I could have more freedom to decorate in my style.  And, hey, if he really hates what I do... we could change it?  I don't think he had the heart to squash all the joy and excitement just gushing out, so I seem to have the general go-ahead!  Though, there's literally no money for it, so this is going to be all make-do.  A creative challenge!  And, I do have fabric!!!

Hey, we can do a lot with fabric.

Soo... first up a new Pinterest board, Creative Home.  I've been wrangling inspiration all weekend.  Oh, I also have the list of ideas I got up in the middle of the night to jot down in hopes that I could contain myself and get some sleep (no luck).  I think I should create a beginning master list here.  To make this real.  Promise you won't laugh?

1.  New sofa pillows
2.  Patchwork dining room chair covers
3.  Paint toy shelf aqua, move and display some folded quilts
4.  Arrange photos on Big Empty Dinging Room Wall
5.  Take down fabric color blocks in living room and design new artsy wall
6.  Paint piano yellow
7.  Add some lots of cool things to buffet, mantle and other tables.
8.  Decoupage something with fabric.  The spare table?  A stool?  A wooden or metal tray?
9.  Rearrange and get rid of some living room furniture
10.  Recover green armchair in sewing room
11.  Paint a poem or verse on the wall
12.  New kitchen rugs
13.  Patchwork lamp shade
14.  Pom Pom Garland for mantel 15.  Write "Home" in scraps on a pillow or stretched art
16.  Crochet jar cozies
17.  Patchwork dining room curtains

Ok, you can laugh, actually.  I know, I know!  But, well...  Sometimes creative energy is a bit hard to control.  My plan of attack is 1 thing at a time.  I think there's hope, if I can keep it to 1 thing?  I've already made good headway on my first project.  Will share soon!

getting started!

I have been stuck on ideas for those new kitchen rugs.  Ideally they would be made out of fabric (since I have that) and be washable and be absorbent and non-slip.  Installing non-slip fabric on the bottom of my patchwork Christmas rug was a big improvement, but it still occasionally slipped.  After 3 or so years of constantly adjusting our kitchen rugs, I'm ready to take a break.  So, if you have any suggestions... even if it's not sewing....  I'm apparently very interested!
