VOTE on Shelburne Falls
Good morning! Have you visited the Shelburne Falls contest page yet? You people made some beautiful things - pillows, purses, quilts, even a Washi Dress. This morning it's my solemn duty to choose just 3 finalists. Tres tricky and admittedly so subjective, so please go easy on me! Here are the
3 finalists who I feel used Shelburne Falls most fabulously in no particular order...
Little Girl's Dress by Jodie Wu
Aren't you smitten? These pretty fabrics just scream "spring!" In fact, the purples and sky blue with dark blue is one of my current favorite color combos. I love that Denyse Schmidt's plaid is printed on the bias. It's perfect here!
In this pic, you can see the clean lines, piping details and bodice pleats. I do adore that Deco Fans print. Of all the Shelburne Falls fabrics, I seem to pull that one at the most.

Denyse Schmidt Low-Volume Pillow by little and lots
It was super hard to choose between all the great pillows entered (like this set! Wow!). So, this is where I want to emphasize that choosing finalists is so subjective! But... when it came down to it, this pillow won my heart. I think Laura struck a nice balance between scrappy and planned, by choosing to mix of low-volume prints sprinkled with tons of different colors in her classic half square triangle pillow. The finished look is definitely something I'd want to toss on my couch!
Laura's pillow includes 3 low volume Shelburne Falls prints: Dress Floral Lilac, Sparse Floral Willow and Sparse Willow Lilac. The rest of her prints are various by Denyse Schmidt, with a lot from Chicopee in particular!

CathrineHolm-ish Tea Towl by SplendorFalls
It's hard to know where to start on this towel. I love the subtle polka dot linen, the row of Shelburne Falls shapes, the Deco Fans binding, the hand quilting... so, yeah, pretty much every little detail! When you look at the very different styles and values in those little shapes and yet how interestingly they combine, you see Denyse Schmidt's genius for fabric design. (Sorry, I'm just a serious fan.)
Mary Clair, a.k.a. Splendor Falls, made her tea towel with reverse applique. Nice! What a gorgeous bit of handmade for one lucky kitchen.
