a Kona Celebration + Cascade Quilt pattern release!
This November, Robert Kaufman is celebrating 30 years of Kona Cotton Solids. They put together a pretty sweet blog hop, with a grand total of 30 quilts all made in glorious solids by a diverse group of bloggers. If you haven't already... run, run, run to flip through this virtual lookbook. Eye candy and inspiration await!
And you know, I like the idea. What better way to celebrate fabric than to actually commission some quilts, include as many people as possible and give away fabric? Oh, yes, that too. Those people at Robert Kaufman are sensible.
One of my favorite quilts in the lookbook is this one by Valori Wells. The construction is simple, but it makes such a glorious impact on the bed!
When invited to participate, I was deep in the trenches designing Angled class. Cascade quilt is a dual-purpose work, both for Angled and for the 30 Quilts for 30 Years celebration. Win! It's a twist on the flying geese block, using mainly flying geese and a few half square triangles to create a tumbling cascade of color and shape.
I included some of my longtime favorites like Kona Cerise, Kale, Paprika and Storm, plus new stars from the 2014 color series: Mediterranean, Sangria and Grellow. Some of those new colors are dynamite. Serious.
Today, in celebration of Kona, I'm releasing Cascade as a stand alone pattern. You can pick up your copy in my pattern shop now! Pattern includes complete color story, so you can make a carbon copy of my Cascade.
Or... well, I don't have to tell you that making your own color story would be entirely rewarding too. Here's another version I had mocked up early on. Doesn't it feel like winter?
And thanks to the RK team, comment on this post in the next 24 hours for a chance to win the New 2014 Colors Charm Pack. Anyone can win, but be quick about it! Good luck, friends.
