Coming Soon - the Penny Sampler Pattern Club!

What will you sew in 2020? A fresh new year is almost upon us, and with it comes choices and challenges and so many possibilities. Let 2020 be the year you make time to create with your hands, whatever form that takes for you.

Create a little beauty. Create a little space to slow down and dig deep. Create something that you can use or gift with pride and delight. Lose yourself in your own making, and you’ll naturally watch, browse, compare and “like” less. Create instead!

If you’re looking for something to keep you inspired and engaged, I hope you’ll consider my Penny Sampler Pattern Club. Even if you’ve never machine paper pieced before, this club is for you! Have you fallen in love with either the Nordic-inspired Penny Sampler or the Dutch-inspired version? You can make either quilt in the course of our pattern club.

Or, actually, you could make lots of things! These machine paper pieced blocks are also perfect for cushions, totes, wall decor and all kinds of quilts. In fact, the pattern club “extras” include two completely different, alternative quilt layouts. I probably won’t be able to resist making them both (and maybe a third idea too!).

I’ve designed the Penny Sampler Pattern Club with just enough structure and plenty of freedom. Yes, you’ll receive monthly deliveries of digital patterns, but also guidance to keep you on track, ideas for switching out blocks to suit your style and alternative traditionally pieced options to mix things up now and then. All of the blocks shown in this post are included in the pattern club, plus many, many more.

Do you struggle with choosing fabrics? Each month I’ll share a tip for making effective fabric and/or color choices with our monthly blocks. I’ll also share examples from our Penny Sampler community, because there are lots of wonderfully different ways to create something beautiful!

This time I’m giving you choices on how you pay for the club. You can buy the full year subscription (at a nice savings) - one and done. Or, you can subscribe to the monthly subscription to pay less than $10 each month. Go ahead and cancel if you change your mind!

All charges will be in euros, as I’m based here in The Netherlands, but you can pay with any credit card, which will automatically convert the currency for you. Especially consider cards like Discover and Capital One, which don’t have add-on fees for international transactions.

Registration begins next Friday, January 3rd with a kick-off sale on the annual subscription. It’ll be just €65 instead of the regular rate of €78. Don’t miss it!

This is my third time making the Penny Sampler quilt. I’m really, really pleased with my first few blocks and eager to develop this fresh version with a Dutch twist. At the same time, it’s a pleasure to encounter these older blocks again from previous versions. Each one is a creative memory nestled in my past. I love that about our quilts - the way they capture moments in time and our own artistic development in a form that’s both beautiful and functional.

Here’s to a wonderful new year!
