Trixie Collage Geranium Dress
What’s that? Another Geranium dress. I know, I know! I just can’t get enough of them. The pattern is so easy and so adaptable, especially with the pattern extension. There are other dear little girl dresses I’ll have to make someday, but for now this is so easy, comfortable and fast!
This time I paired two printed fabrics in a capsleeve version of the Geranium dress. I started with the Trixie Collage print by Heather Ross for Windham Fabrics. It’s so very, very adorable, isn’t it? And such a fun fabric, with those mice peeking out from the wonky diamonds.
Pairing the Trixie Collage print with an Anna Maria Horner Loominous (Big Love in Candy) wasn’t an obvious choice. However, I think it worked out so very well! The colors are perfect, and it really fits the playful vibe of the Trixie print. Plus, the woven Loominous fabric has a softer drape than quilting cotton, which makes it extra comfy.
I finished with snaps using my Kam snap kit. I find them less fussy to install than buttons.
Elora wore her new dress on Mother’s Day. Before church I snapped some photos in her bedroom. She was being a silly little thing, but I bet you won’t mind.
This was her first take. Really, where do they get these sassy little looks?
Then, quick as a button, she was hiding behind her favorite book. Toddlers are nothing if not unpredictable!
Lately, Elora finds being photographed super exciting. She gets ideas of how she’d like to pose and is eager to see the pictures after we’re done. This time she decided a bed scene would be best. She quickly transferred her favorite board books to a stack on her bed, like she does for nap time and bed time. Then, she tucked herself in and set to reading.
Not what I had in mind, but I guess it works?
I also convinced her to stand up for a moment to capture the dress properly. You’re welcome.
Elora is two and half and so full of sunshine. I do love sewing for her!!!
