Cutting Update for Indie Folk Geesey Quilt-makers
Hello friends. Are you making a Geesey quilt with Indie Folk fabrics from the Sojo Fabric quilt kit? This post is for you.
Yesterday I published a cut sheet for those making a replicate of my Indie Folk Geesey quilt. Well, I made a mistake. Two actually - ugh. So sorry! The good news is I have a work-around so that all can come out well in the end.
The Problem
There’s not quite enough of two fabrics in the Indie Folk Geesey kit for making an exact replica of my quilt. You will find you are short on the solid yellow fabric and the white multicolor floral. One was a tiny miscalculation on my part (2 triangles!) and the other was calculated correctly, but not communicated correctly to Sojo Fabric.
Yep, I’m wearing the dunce cap tonight.
I do sincerely apologize for the disappointment to all of you who bought quilt kits from Sojo Fabric. The mistake it absolutely my fault.
The Solution
Ok, so we can fix this. You totally have enough fabric to make an Indie Folk Geesey quilt! We’re just going to swap a couple of fabric choices, strategically, to create the same visual effect.
First, download the updated Indie Folk Cut Sheet. By the way, I’ve updated the download link on yesterday’s post too.
Second, when you reference my Indie Folk quilt to assemble blocks, make these adjustments to the blocks circled below in red:
Two Circled Blocks at Top Right: white multicolor floral geese with the teal background. Instead of the white multicolor floral fabric use the white multicolor stripe fabric (shown right) for these two geese.
One Circled Block at Left: dark multicolor floral goose with the yellow background. Instead of the solid yellow fabric use the pink solid fabric for this one circled block. As a result you will have a string of 3 pink background blocks here, instead of just 2.
3. Three Circled Blocks at Bottom Center: yellow geese with the stripe multicolor background. Instead of the solid yellow fabric use the large blue flower fabric (shown right) for these three geese. Thus, you will have a string of 7 identical blocks in this column.
That’s it! These three changes will suffice and the best thing is that the colors stay overall the same. I hope this makes sense, but if you’re left confused, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. You can always contact me via email for something like this.
If you’ve already cut your fabric based on the old cut sheet, I suggest you swap fabrics in a similar way. If you have any trouble working that out, again don’t hesitate to reach out.
My apologies for the trouble!
Sincerely,
Rachel
