here, Birdie, Birdie
Do you remember when I shared my After the Rain quilt in December with the bird block on the back? I received a whole passel of requests to release that bird as a stand-alone pattern. Thank you for the pattern love!
Well friends, let’s do it! The Penny Bird hasn’t seen much play actually, since it was a new block for the 2020 Penny Sampler Pattern Club, it’s not in any of the alternative quilt layouts that came with that club and I didn’t even use it in my own Penny Sampler. She’s pretty charming. I agree - let’s give this block a chance to shine!
Today I’ve chosen fabrics for a new project - a big pillow for Aria’s bed. The solid teal square represents the bird block. I’ll frame it log-cabin style for the pillow front so that the bird seems poised to take flight.
This palette is Aria’s favorite - mostly teal with hints of blue. I’ve chosen blue and white for the bird, to make it stand out a bit.
I like how this project is shaping up. Stay tuned!
