Scrap Quilt Blocks: Confetti Quilt progress

Are you sewing along with the Confetti Quilt-Along? I’ve set aside 4 full months (March - June) to enjoy making this scrap quilt, and you might want to take even more! These fun 8” quilt blocks eat fabric scraps like crazy. On my first go with this pattern, I stopped when I had about ran out of backing fabric. Well, and if I recollect correctly, my crumb scraps were also running low by that time!

It’s totally not too late to join us. Visit Confetti Quilt-Along for all the details.

I am making a second Confetti quilt along with our community, but this time just baby sized. The pattern includes fabric requirements for both throw (64” square) and baby (40” square). I don’t think I have the crumb scrap volume to make another throw quilt, so I decided to keep it small and manageable. That means I only have to sew 4 blocks per month to finish my quilt in time. I know, I know - totally cheating!

Yesterday I sat down to sew my 4th block and couldn’t stop at that, so I’ve also finished one for April.

I’ll chosen to tuck my pieces away in a basket and stow them on the shelf, so that I can switch gears for now. I feel a new quilt coming - love that feeling.

Ok, how about you? How is your Confetti quilt coming along? I’ve enjoyed seeing your creative blocks via the Instagram hashtag #ConfettiQuiltAlong. It’s interesting to see how it looks with different background fabrics and, of course, super fun to see your scraps!
