Fabric Notecards

Wondering what you can do with your tiniest fabric scraps and wee, little orphan blocks???

Make handmade fabric notecards! Just buy plain, flat notecards. Then, grab a glue stick and go for it!

This first batch of cards was finished in a snap. I trimmed the edge with pinking shears and machine stitched the patchwork onto the cards. There! These itty bitty blocks are rescued from months or years of limbo.

I took some more time playing with those strip scraps. First I cut additional .5” strips, to boost the bright colors. Then I sewed some on cards in bars and some in confetti squares.

A regular glue stick works perfectly to hold everything in place for sewing.

If you’ll be making fabric notecards, I do recommend getting a spool or two of heavy weight machine sewing thread. The confetti card on the left was sewn with 12 wt thread. It looks so much nicer than the normal 50 wt thread used on the card at right, don’t you think?

Now my stock of homemade cards is replenished! I have a few notes to write - - -
