Seafarers Neighborhood blocks

Even building fabric neighborhoods takes time. I paper pieced fifteen houses total in May. Phew! Good thing my work is also my play.

Now they’re done and so is the Seafarers quilt pattern! Hooray!

The Seafarers quilt pattern was published as an “extra” in the June edition of Penny Sampler Pattern Club. Club members, your delivery went out yesterday. If you don’t see it, double check in your spam and then let me know. I’m glad to send you a direct email if needed.

I’m enjoying re-imagining these Penny Sampler blocks in vibrant fabrics by Anna Maria Horner. My Neighborhood blocks include Piecework and Stitched Bouquet from her new Hindsight fabrics, but also some older AMH goodies.

The background fabric is FreeSpirit Designer Solids in Serpent. It’s a dark, mysterious teal that reminds me of deep waters. In the Seafarers quilt layout, the “sea” surrounds these Neighborhood blocks and flows into the Tulip Crown and Bridge blocks to come.

This isn’t the proper Seafarers layout. In the final quilt, the outer Compass blocks don’t come so close to the Neighborhood blocks, but it’s nice to see all my Seafarers blocks together.

This is so colorful and playful, compared to my current Penny Sampler in progress. Fun to mix things up!

Wishing you a colorful journey.
