the Quilt
I loved the making of this quilt at every stage: sorting crumb scraps, puzzling together quilt blocks and watching my Confetti collection grow and grow on my design wall. I liked it almost too much to finish, so I am so glad for the opportunity to make another alongside you during our sew-along!
I love to save fabric scraps, even the small ones. A lot of scrap patterns don’t work for little bits, which is what led me to create this design. I think fabric makes the best confetti!
Don’t have a lot of scraps? Build your future quilt one block at a time. Each manageable 8” block uses approximately 8 scraps. You can add to the quilt over the years with trimmings from your very favorite fabrics.
Wondering how this is sewn? Confetti is not improv-pieced, but rather foundation paper pieced. This has advantages - no need to trim scraps to precise sizes. The pattern includes 4 unique block patterns for spontaneous variation in your quilt. Basic foundation paper piecing experience is assumed. Foundations are color coded and labeled for ease-of-use. This means you won’t have to reference pattern directions as you sew! The pattern incorporates chain piecing as well, to jump start your blocks in an easy, relaxing manner.
the Supplies
The Confetti quilt pattern includes 2 quilt sizes: baby (40” square) and throw (64” square). You can make either size during the sew-along, or even another size of your own creation. For a different size quilt, just make more 8” blocks!
To get started, you’ll need background fabric: 3 yards (baby quilt) or 6 1/2 yards (throw quilt). The quilt does use a lot of background fabric given the many seams and paper piecing approach.

You’ll also need regular printer paper for printing out the paper foundations.
