Teeter Totter: Week 4 Sewing Blocks
How is it that we’re sliding into the end of May already? Our Teeter Totter quilts are going to be done before you know it, and warm summer days are just around the bend. Thanks for sewing along with me or for cheering on our progress via #TeeterTotterQuilt. It’s been a pleasure, as always.

Week 4: Sewing Blocks
Let’s finish up those Teeter Totter quilt blocks! I am sewing a Teeter Totter quilt with a purple ombré background, and my last batch of blocks are a pale shade of purple. It feels fresh and springy, like the lilac trees abloom in our neighborhood. I hope your project also makes you smile today.
Step 1: Sew Blocks
If you’ve been sewing along at our pace, you’ll have 48 blocks left to sew today, or 8 width-of-fabric sashing strips. Isn’t chain piecing so fast? It is almost cheating. Don’t forget to pay attention to the second half of page 8 if you are making an ombré background quilt.
Step 2: Trim Blocks
By now, this is a familiar story, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t enjoy the tidy perfection of your freshly-trimmed blocks and the colorful slivers that result.
Step 3: Cut Short Sashing Pieces
Once again, cut 48 vertical sashing pieces to round out this week’s tasks. You should have all your short sashing pieces cut and ready to assemble for next week.
p.s. If you can’t wait and want to start attaching short sashing pieces this week, you won’t be the only one!
Week 4 Sew-Along Goal: Sewing Blocks
Sew 48 blocks and cut 48 short sashing strips. Almost done!
Weekly Giveaway
Last week’s winner is @VeryBlessedMama. Your aqua tones are simply delicious! This range of aqua values combined with the bright white feels very seaside to me. I can almost smell the sea and hear the surf. Thank you for sharing and enjoy!
Share to win!
This week share a photo of your teeter totter blocks in progress with hashtag #TeeterTotterQuilt.
Your photo enters you into a giveaway for a Willoughby Quilt Kit by Tales of Cloth. This is Jodi’s brand-new pattern, and you get the paper pieces and acrylic cutting set too!
Willoughby is the best of both worlds. The EPP is relaxed and fun and enjoyed in all the little moments where you want to be more present, but once the blocks are done, you just want to be done! Willoughby allows you to trim your EPP blocks square, and machine sew them into the quilt top in an afternoon! Win-win!
Winner will be announced next week and giveaway is open worldwide.
good luck, friends!
