Lavender Blue, a Teeter Totter quilt

Happy Friday, friends! Today I have a finished quilt to kick off the weekend - - -

I quilted her earlier this week, with my go-to Ribbon Candy curves. I just love how this edge to edge pattern flows over the oscillating Teeter Totter triangles.

Then I bound her in that chunky blue and jade stripe, which also makes an appearance in the quilt top. This is a Tula Pink Tent Stripe. They come in lots of colors and any of them would make an excellent quilt binding. There’s just something right about binding with stripes, no?

Ta da, the finished quilt!

Satisfactions: the subtle ombre blend in the purple background color. It’s so slight that you don’t see it at first, which is perfect. Also, the binding!

Dissatisfactions: The overall color palette stopped speaking to me early in the process. I don’t know if I’m just not a purple girl or if the big changes in my life sparked my need to sew rainbows instead of lavender blues.

Well, I do hope that someone who loves purple will give this quilt a home! She’s listed in my Handmades shop, along with my previous multicolor Teeter Totter, aka Flower Fields. Today’s rendition is named Lavender Blue for obvious reasons. That is also the name of a charming 17th century children’s folk song, a version of which I used to sing with Aria and Liam.

On the back is a lovely shade of blue. With the backing fabric’s smooth hand and the wavy quilting texture, this one should be a nice cuddle.

By the way, these photos were made in the garden of our local art museum. This structure was relocated from a rural area to the museum for preservation. It makes a great backdrop, yes? Also thanks to Floris, my quilt-holder and a new friend. We both happened to be wearing blue and purple. Isn’t that lucky?
